Erase Acne Scars with Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing

Pigmented and depressed acne scars can continue to make you feel self-conscious long after those embarrassing pimples clear up. So why hang on to old memories when you can erase them from your sight with fractional laser skin resurfacing? At Skinlastiq, we use the Palomar Icon 1540 XD/XF laser to banish the scarring and restore naturally flawless skin by promoting new collagen growth beneath the surface.*

The Palomar Icon is the most advanced fractional laser available on the market. This laser is capable of improving skin health and diminishing blemishes through a minimally invasive procedure. And the treatments are so comfortable on the skin; these laser therapies require no downtime or recovery time!*

Why Should I Choose Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Acne cannot only affect the skin’s texture, but the healing process of acne can also leave behind hyperpigmentation and blemishes that never seem to fade away. The skin care industry is full of over-the-counter products that claim to correct blemishes and eliminate the scars. Unfortunately, many of our patients come to our medspa because years of trying these products have not yielded their expected results.*

Other options include dermal fillers that add volume beneath the skin’s surface and temporarily plump the skin. While this treatment offers some relieve for acne scar sufferers, the effects of dermal fillers fade over a six to twelve month period. On the other hand, fractional laser treatments address the particular tone and texture of the skin necessary for long lasting results.

The results of laser skin treatment can be seen immediately and continue to progress over a three to four month period making scars and blemishes seem just naturally to fade away. Laser skin treatments require multiple sessions. However, each session is non–abrasive to the skin and does not result in redness, or raw skin like some other ablative laser treatments do.

What is the Difference Between Erbium and CO2 Lasers?

At Skinlastiq, we offer both types of lasers. However, CO2 (carbon dioxide) lasers tend to be more invasive and require recovery time following each session. We understand our patients and know that they want to be able to come in for a session and get back to their normal social life as soon as possible. This is why we recommend erbium lasers.*

Erbium lasers have little to no known risk, unlike CO2 lasers which may leave the skin appearing red or raw and can put your skin at risk of infection for several weeks following the procedure. While we do offer this laser, we only do so at a patient’s request. Instead, we suggest treatments with our Palomar Icon 1540 XD/XF—an erbium laser with the most advanced technology available.*

If you are interested in finding out if a laser treatment is right for you and learning more about our minimally invasive and non-invasive cosmetic correction treatments, we would love for you to come into our medspa and speak with one of our highly trained staff members. They will be able to provide you with the knowledge and recommendations that best meet your goals without disrupting your lifestyle.*

How is a laser scar removal performed?

It involves various techniques and methods which greatly depend on the kind of scar and the severity. Local anesthesia is typically applied. The machine or the device will target the layer of the affected skin to reveal the new skin. *

With the use of the non-ablative fractional (1540) erbium type of laser resurfacing, the technique is most effective to remove scars. The device will be placed on the scar, and the energy is passed throughout the skin into the scar tissues. Hence, it smooths the scars and reorganizes the collagen. *

What Should I Expect After The Treatment?

You will be given a set of guidelines on what to do after your treatment. Dr. Kanen will provide it to you. You must make sure to follow them. It might include antibiotic ointment to avoid infections. A pain medication might be prescribed if you feel any discomfort and a cooling mask will be advised to ease the pain. The rejuvenation of your skin will start four days after the treatment. The result will depend again individually. *

Though the results of the procedure will not totally give you an absolute absence of the scar, it will bring a dramatic, significant appearance. It will be unnoticeable, and that is what is important. So, to make sure that you are getting the appropriate results, you must follow the guidelines and take care of your skin after the treatment. *

When Can I See The Final Outcome?

The new collagen production which is responsible for replacing the vitiated scar collagen will not start to generate until the sixth week of the procedure or treatment, and it may continue for six months to one year. The outcome will depend on the post-treatment skin care and the severity of the scar. Dr. Kanen will guide you properly. *
